When the race started, it wasn’t raining, but there was a heavy mist in the air.
Kevin Harvick started on the pole and he led the opening 28 laps. He selected to start in the low line.
Big: On lap 5, Chris Buescher got into the wall hard and brought out the first caution.

Big: JJ Yeley backed his car into the wall on lap 22.
The JJ Yeley caution was used as the competition caution.
Denny Hamlin got high when the race went back to green following the Yeley caution and lost a lot of track position.
Big: On lap 29 while leading, Kevin Harvick slapped the wall hard. He then had to make an unexpected pit stop. No caution ever came out for this. Harvick was now a lap down in 38th.
On lap 29, Alex Bowman took the lead and he then led the next 17 laps.

On lap 45, the caution finally came out since the race conditions were too wet. Shortly after this, NASCAR called the cars to pit road and it marked the end of racing until Wednesday.

Big: On lap 59, Matt Kenseth spun off the nose of Denny Hamlin and then the #42 hit Bubba Wallace. They were are all running around the mid-teens at the time. This marked the end of the race for Wallace.
During the 11,42,43 caution, Denny Hamlin’s team spent some time repairing damage to the nose of the car.

Around lap 175, Kevin Harvick had a vibration and pitted from 6th. His car was tight. Everyone else still had to pit in the Stage, but his stop was early.

Normal green flag pit stops started around lap 195 in this Stage, so Harvick pitted about 20 laps early.
Notable: During green flag pit stops on lap 201, Chase Elliott made a second pit stop. He did a two tire pit stop, but then a tire he didn’t change was shredded. He told his team he didn’t feel it coming apart until after he left pit road following his stop. He was running in 7th prior to the start of the pit cycle.
