Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Kansas #1 2021
Kyle Larson – This spring at Kansas, Kyle Larson had the field covered until late restarts came into play. In the race, Larson started way back in 32nd, but that wasn’t a problem for him and on lap 11 he was up to 10th! In the race, Larson finished 2nd in Stage #1, 1st in Stage #2, led 132 laps, had the best Total Speed Ranking (4th, 1st, 1st and 1st over the segments) and was tied for having the best driver rating (with Kyle Busch). During the final restart, Larson aggressively pushed Blaney and got into the wall which had him rapidly falling back to his misleading 19th place result.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin was a contender to win earlier this year at Kansas, but he finished an asterisk mark 12th. In the race, Hamlin finished 9th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2 but on lap 242 while he was battling Kyle Larson for the lead (in the process of getting passed), he got into the wall hard which led to his misleading result. In the race, Hamlin was tied for having the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking and over the last three segments he ranked 3rd, 2nd and 2nd in terms of speed.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had a great car earlier this year at Kansas and was a top five contender, but he finished an asterisk mark 21st. In the race, Blaney finished 8th in Stage #1, 6th in Stage #2 and was running in 2nd at the start of the final overtime, but Kyle Larson pushed him aggressively which got him out of shape and cost him a ton of momentum.
