Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Martinsville #1 2021
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney finished 11th this spring at Martinsville, but that’s an asterisk mark result. In the race, Blaney won Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 157 laps and was running in 2nd when he got a late pit penalty with about 50 laps to go which led to his misleading result. In 2020 at Martinsville, Blaney had a pair of 2nd place finishes.
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman was a top five contender this spring at Martinsville, but he finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Bowman finished 7th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #2, was in 2nd on lap 354, but then shortly after that on lap 368 he made an unexpected pit stop because of a loose wheel which dropped him two laps down. That put Bowman deep in the field, and then on lap 385 when the “Big One” ensued, he was caught up in the carnage. Over the first three segments of the race, Bowman had speed rankings of 11th, 3rd and 5th.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski had a strong car this spring at Martinsville, but he walked away with a misleading 33rd. In the race, Keselowski finished 8th in Stage #1, 6th in Stage #2 but then around lap 321 he reported he had intermittent power steering issues, and then later on lap 340 while he was in the mid-teens he was spun. That put him back in the pack, and then on lap 385 when the “Big One” ensued he was caught up in the carnage.
