On lap 3, Denny Hamlin took the lead. Hamlin then led the next 31 laps.

Around lap 20, the Hendrick cars who started in the back were up to the low-twenties.
Notable: On lap 22 it was reported that Martin Truex was tight and he tagged the wall. Truex was using a new setup in this race because he didn’t feel his car was any better then battling for a top five in 2020.

Notable: Kyle Larson left pit road during the competition caution in 9th, but at that time he was caught speeding on pit road. It dropped Larson back into the 30’s.

Notable: Alex Bowman was spun into the wall while running in the high-teens on lap 46. He had some notable damage. Austin Dillon got into the back of him and got a little bit of damage to his nose. This brought out a caution.

Big: On lap 89, Anthony Alfredo crashed which marked the end of his race. He was in 34th and a lap down. Cody Ware got into him. Ware got into the wall hard himself at the time.

Around lap 140, green flag pit stops started.
Notable: During green flag pit stops around lap 144, Kyle Larson was caught speeding on pit road again. Larson was up to 2nd prior to coming to pit road.
Notable: Kyle Busch got an uncontrolled tire penalty during green flag pit stops during the lap 140’s. He was running just outside the top ten at the time. This dropped him a lap down.
