Phoenix Fantasy NASCAR Quick Read Preview / Tiered Rankings
Below is a quick read Fantasy NASCAR Preview for Phoenix #2. For more in-depth content, make sure you check out our Confidence Rankings.
Tier #1
1) Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson has been strong at Phoenix. Since fall 2018, Larson has a series best 4.8 average finish and he’s 5 for 5 at finishing between 3rd to 7th. This spring at Phoenix, the #5 car was fast and if Larson didn’t get two speeding penalties, there’s a great chance he could’ve won. In practice, the #5 car was fast and found speed in the resin late.
2) Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott has been a fantasy ace at Phoenix and over the last three races, I would argue Elliott’s been the class of the field (4.3 average finish). This spring, Elliott started in the back and was caught speeding during the Stage #2 caution, but he rallied back to finish 5th. Last fall, Elliott started in the back but raced his way to victory lane en route to winning the championship. In spring 2020, Elliott might’ve had the best car but he made an unexpected pit stop while leading and went on to finish 7th. In practice, Elliott had the 2nd best 15 lap average.
3) Martin Truex Jr. – This spring at Phoenix after the #19 car got tuned to Truex’s liking, he had the fastest car in segments 3 & 4 and raced his way to victory lane. This year at shorter-flat tracks minus New Hampshire where he had problems early in the rain, Truex has a 2.3 average finish. Across the four races, Truex has the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking. In practice, Truex had the best 15 lap average.
