Daytona 500 NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
Toyota – Early in practice, the top Toyota teams worked together in a manufacturer draft combined with JGR and 23XI drivers. Denny Hamlin led their draft at the start. Later, Truex paced the pack. When the Toyota’s worked together, they were a second quicker than other drivers on the track at the time.
RFK Racing – 15 minutes into practice, Keselowski and Chris Buescher worked together drafting.
Fords – Late in practice, a big group of Ford’s comprised of Buescher, Keselowski, McDowell, Ragan and Todd Gilliland worked together. This was a fast group and they all climbed up towards the top at the end.
Hendrick Motorsports – Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. all drafted together about 25 minutes into practice. About 30 minutes into practice, McDowell and Gilliland joined the Hendrick group.
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon said his car was all over the place following a run about 20 minutes into practice. “I’m not going to be able to race it. It just bounces up in down.”
