Daytona 500 Happy Hour NASCAR Practice Notes
NOTE: Don’t put too much stock in this practice session. I would suggest you view the Duel 150’s as the “true practice sessions” for the Daytona 500.
Stewart-Haas Racing – Early in practice, the four SHR cars practiced as an organization drafting. In the Duel races, they had problems keeping up with the draft. Chase Briscoe who was at the tail end of the group appeared to lose the draft at one point.
Penske Racing – In the second half of practice, they worked as an organization to do drafting practice.
Kaulig Racing – They practiced in a draft along with Landon Cassill early in practice. They took turns swapping positions in the pack.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano said his backup car drove pretty much so like his primary car in an interview. Joey Logano logged some laps by himself early. Later in practice, Logano worked in a Penske draft. Logano also did some practice coming to pit road.
Jacques Villeneuve – He didn’t practice this session. He didn’t practice on Friday either. His team fixed his Thursday Duel 150 problem, but said he discovered his team dropped a valve in their engine this morning. He’ll be changing his engine. Villeneuve wanted to do some pit road practice this session, but he never got the chance to.
