Auto Club Race Notes
During pace laps, Denny Hamlin made an unexpected pit stop and changed a shock absorber which led to him starting in the rear of the field.
Clint Bowyer who started on the pole selected to start in the high-line. Bowyer led the opening 10 laps.
Martin Truex Jr. started in 32nd and he was up 16 positions in just a few laps.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. started in the back and he was up to 20th in just a few laps.

On lap 27, Martin Truex Jr. was the first driver to come to pit road for planned pit stops. He raced his way up to 11th before coming in. Erik Jones also came in at that time. Much of the field came to pit road within a few laps after Truex.
Big: Around lap 34, Kyle Larson was slow and came to pit road. Hamlin got into his back bumper and Larson slammed into the wall hard. Larson was shown to have quite a bit of damage. Larson was running in 6th prior to coming to pit road for his pit stop.

Notable: On lap 47, Christopher Bell was shown to be on pit road making an unexpected pit stop. Bell had a vibration and it dropped him two laps down. Prior to his problem he was running around the low 20’s.

Notable: During the Stage #1 caution, Kurt Busch missed his pit stall. He then had to return to pit road which dropped him to the back of the field. Kyle Larson pitted before pit road was open to do extra repair. He had to start in the back.
During the Stage #1 caution, Alex Bowman talked about how good his car was. He really liked it.

Big: On lap 81 it was mentioned that Christopher Bell’s #95 had lost a cylinder. Bell’s car had a lot of smoke and it marked the end of his race.
Around lap 85, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was mentioned to have made a green flag pit stop that dropped him off the lead lap. This was shortly before a green flag pit cycle.
Planned green flag pit stops started en mass around lap 90.
Notable: Clint Bowyer had a tire go down on 93 and it brought out a caution. The pit cycle was essentially completed at this time.
