The Low Tier – Las Vegas
Greg Biffle – The “Biff” will be back at Las Vegas, but make sure you keep your expectations low in his NY Racing #44. His team has some level of support from RCR so he’ll potentially have dark horse potential, but I would wait until after practice and qualifying to see if that materializes. Right now, I would view Biffle as a mid-twenties driver at best.
BJ McLeod – At Auto Club last week in the Next Gen’s intermediate track debut, BJ McLeod fielded the slowest car on the track, in terms of Total Speed Rankings but when the checkered flag waved he finished 22nd. Additionally, McLeod had a 28.4 average running position and the 35th best Green Flag Speed. In 2021 at Las Vegas, McLeod finished 33rd in the fall and 30th in the spring. Look for McLeod to finish within a few deviations of 30th.
Cody Ware – At Auto Club, Cody Ware showed that low-tier guys will remain low-tier guys with the Next Gen. In California he finished 32nd, had a 34.6 average running position and had the 35th best Total Speed Ranking. Last year at Las Vegas, Ware had results of 31st and 32nd.
Garrett Smithley – At Auto Club, Garrett Smithley snuck in a 21st, but that result doesn’t reflect his performance. In that race he had a 28.4 average running position, the 34th best Total Speed Ranking and the 34th best Green Flag Speed. At Las Vegas, Smithley is 4 for 4 at finishing between 31st and 35th. I’ll note, three of those results are 35th. In 2021 at Sin City, Smithley finished 35th in the fall and then 31st in the spring.
Josh Bilicki – Josh Bilicki has an impeccably bad track record at Las Vegas and over his three starts he’s finished in either 35th or 36th. Last year, Bilicki finished 36th in the fall and 35th in the spring. Last week at Auto Club, Bilicki finished 30th, had a 31.3 average running position and had the 33rd best Total Speed Ranking.
