Las Vegas NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
NOTE: This practice session was extremely windy. The wind is not expected to be a factor tomorrow.
Kyle Busch – 7 minutes into practice while he was 7th on the speed chart, Kyle Busch spun and hit the wall hard. Busch had a tire going down. He logged 9 laps before his flat. He’ll be going to a backup car and will start in the rear of the field. His backup car was said to be a “parts car” where teams would salvage parts off for the west coast trip. It’s said to be far from ready to race.

Larson reported to his team, “Little tight in the center.” Larson had the best 15 lap average 25 minutes into practice. Larson completed an 18-lap run in this session so he should have a good feel for his car. The #5 car had a great practice session.
William Byron – About 5 minutes into practice, William Byron climbed to the top of the speed chart. While he was 2nd a few minutes later he radioed his team and said, “Little free in 1 and 2, feels good in 3 and 4.” The #24 was easily one of the strongest cars in this practice session.
Kevin Harvick – Harvick wasn’t high on the speed chart in terms of setting a really quick lap, but he was said to be running consistent lap times.
Ryan Blaney – The #12 showed up with speed and had a quick 5 lap average early in practice. Blaney also climbed up to the top of the speed chart about 10 minutes into practice. Blaney made a +20-lap run to close out the session to get a good understanding about his car.
