Phoenix NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
William Byron – Early in group #1, William Byron was setting the quick lap times. Late in practice while he was 2nd Byron said, “A little tight on throttle, but that’s it.” Byron did a +25 lap run, so he should have a good feel for his car. Byron had the best 10,15 and 20 lap averages from his group. In a post-practice interview Byron said, he unloaded close and things felt good.
Austin Cindric – A couple of minutes into practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart. Cindric said he needed more rotation following his first run. When practice ended, he remained #1 overall.
Chris Buescher – Early in the first group, Chris Buescher who was 14th of 18 cars said his car was free, mostly in the rear end.
Michael McDowell – In the first group while he was 11th of 18 cars he said, “It feels like it’s taking the bumps just a little too harsh, otherwise the balance feels good.”
Alex Bowman – In the first group while he was 13th of 18 cars he reported that his car was tight off corner exit after his first run. Alex Bowman notably never made a 10 lap run.
