Atlanta Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – At Atlanta, look for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to be racy. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is a strong superspeedway performer, and he’s also shown some speed at intermediate tracks this year. In terms of Superspeedway + Intermediate Track 2022 Total Speed Rankings, Stenhouse Jr. is tied for being the 5th fastest. A big part of his high ranking was his #1 Total Speed Ranking at Daytona. In that race, Stenhouse finished 4th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #2, led 16 laps and was the leader late, before getting crashed right near the end which led to his 28th. At intermediates this year, Stenhouse finished 10th at Auto Club and then at Las Vegas he finished 21st. Take note, that’s an asterisk mark result. At “Sin City”, Stenhouse was in 8th before the final caution came out in which he was caught speeding on pit road which cost him a good result.

Austin Dillon – Atlanta won’t be your ordinary 1.5-mile track, but Austin Dillon has been a top 15 machine at tracks of this length. Since 2021 at these venues, Dillon is 10 for 10 at finishing in the top 15 and his average finish is 10.6. In 8 of those 10 races he came home with a result between 10th to 15th. This spring at Las Vegas the lone 1.5-mile track visited, Dillon finished 11th. Auto Club is the one other intermediate track visited this year, and Dillon snuck in a runner-up, even though he wasn’t even remotely that good.
Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola didn’t notch his 4th straight top ten in a row at Phoenix (12th), but he kept the good times going and so far in 2022 he has a series best 7.3 average finish. His ability to avoid trouble so far is a great intangible to have this weekend, where the attrition rate might spike. At Atlanta, Almirola is definitely worthy of fantasy consideration. He’s a proven superspeedway performer, and he’s also been solid at intermediates in 2022. At Daytona to open the season, Almirola started in the back, evaded the mass carnage and finished 5th. This year at intermediates, Almirola has a pair of 6th place results, but I’ll note his combined Total Speed Ranking between the combined events is the 16th best.
