Big: Martin Truex Jr. who started on the front row was penalized for jumping the start. NASCAR penalized him and he then had to serve a pass thru penalty. Truex remained on the lead lap after serving his penalty.
Denny Hamlin led the opening 32 laps.

Around lap 180, another green flag pit cycle ensued in Stage #2.
Big: Chase Elliott had big problems during his green flag pit stop on lap 183. He overshot his pit box and then had jack issues. It destroyed his jack and cost him a lot of time on the track. Prior to his problem he was the race leader. It was a 36 second pit stop that dropped him a lap down to 15th. He unlapped himself pretty quickly, but then late in the Stage he got re-lapped.
