Richmond Bottom Line – At Richmond, look for Austin Dillon to run well and have a solid showing. Dillon’s consistently been sneaky good at Richmond in recent races, and you also have to like how well he ran at Phoenix a few weeks ago. In the desert, Dillon had a 9.8 average running position, the 10th best Total Speed Ranking and the 10th best Green Flag Speed. With 11 laps to go before the final caution came out in which he got wiped out, Dillon was running in 6th.
Richmond Track History – A couple of years ago, Austin Dillon tested at Richmond, and he learned something that propelled him to consistent success. In 5 of the last 6 races here, Dillon’s finished in the top 11, and over that stretch minus fall 2019 where he was involved in an early caution his average finish is 7.4. Last year, Dillon had a pair of low double-digit results. In fall 2021, Dillon finished 11th, had a 13th place average running position, was the 17th Fastest Driver Late In A Run and had the 17th best Total Speed Ranking. Last spring, Dillon had a solid showing. In the race he finished 8th in Stage #1, 10th overall, had a 10.3 average running position and had the 12th best Total Speed Ranking. In 2020, Dillon had a great performance and was extremely happy with his car. In the race he finished 2nd in Stage #1, 2nd in Stage #2, led 55 laps, had a 5.8 average running position and finished 4th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of speed analytics, Dillon was the fastest driver late in a run and had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking. What makes Dillon’s good finish really standout is that during the Stage #1 caution after he just finished 2nd, Dillon got a pit penalty which put him at the back of the field.

Richmond Bottom Line – Aric Almirola is a great mid-tier pick whenever the series visits a shorter-flat track. His most recent win was on this track type (New Hampshire 2021) and over the combined shorter-flat track races since 2021, Almirola’s 8.3 average finish ranks as the 4th best. This spring at Phoenix in the Next Gen’s first race on this track type, Almirola finished 12th and had the 13th best Total Speed Ranking.
Richmond Track History – Richmond has been a great track for Aric Almirola and among mid-tier drivers like him, he’s as solid as they come. Over the last three races, Almirola has a 9.3 average finish, a 10.6 average running position and he’s 3 for 3 at finishing between 6th to 14th. Last fall, Almirola ran well. In the race he finished 10th in Stage #1, 8th in Stage #2 and then finished an asterisk mark 14th when the checkered flag waved. During green flag pit stops around lap 300 while he was in 11th, he pitted twice which dropped him back to 20th. In terms of speed analytics, Almirola was the 8th Fastest Driver Late In A Run and had the 10th best Total Speed Ranking. In spring 2021, Almirola started way back in 22nd, finished 6th, had the 8th best Total Speed Ranking and was the 8th Fastest Driver Late In A Run. In fall 2020, Almirola had a solid showing. He finished 8th in Stage #2, 8th overall, had a 9.2 average running position and his Total Speed Ranking was the 9th best.
