Group A Practice Notes
Bubba Wallace – Early in session #1, Bubba Wallace spun. He didn’t hit anything. Wallace had the 26th best 5 lap average, he never made a 10 lap run.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had good speed in session #1 and was in 3rd, 7 minutes in. His 5 lap average was the best, halfway into his session. 15 minutes into practice he ranked #1 in terms of 5,10,15 and 20 lap averages. Take note, only three drivers had 15 lap averages at the time. Blaney ended the session 3rd overall. Blaney said his car was decent, but he ended the session loose. He was fairly happy with it though.
Kyle Busch – In session #1, Kyle Busch jumped to the top of the speed chart early. Kyle Busch ended the session #1 overall. His car had good speed and among the group his ten lap average was the 3rd best. Busch said his car wasn’t too bad. He said his baseline was good. He ended practice, #1 overall. Busch’s ten lap average at the end of practice was the 12th best.
William Byron – Early in practice before the Wallace caution, Byron was in 5th, and at that time he said his car was a little tight. Halfway while he was 6th he said, “Overdriving the entry just a skosh.” Later he said he had to be loosened up in the center of turns 3 and 4. Byron’s 10 lap average was the 19th best.
Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher was in 2nd, 7 minutes into practice. Buescher ended his group 2nd. Chris Buescher said he felt good about his car. Buescher’s 10 lap average was the 18th best.
