Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Martinsville (Fall 2021)

Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott was a contender to win last fall at Martinsville, but he finished an asterisk mark 16th after getting spun out late while running in 3rd by an aggressive Keselowski. In the race, Elliott won the opening two Stages, led 289 laps, had the best green flag speed and the best Total Speed Ranking. Over the first three segments, the #9 was the fastest car on the track.

Denny Hamlin – Everyone remembers what happened to Denny Hamlin last fall at Martinsville, and because of his late contact with Bowman while leading he finished a clunker 24th. In the race, Hamlin started in the rear of the field, finished 5th in Stage #2 and led 103 laps. In the final segment of the race, Hamlin fielded the fastest car on the track.

Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson was a top five contender last fall at Martinsville, but two speeding penalties led to him finishing 14th. In the race, Larson led 77 laps and finished 2nd in Stage #1, but then he got his first speeding penalty. On lap 370 he rebounded back up to 5th, but then on lap 379 he was busted speeding again.
