On lap 2, Kyle Busch passed Denny Hamlin for the lead. Busch led the next 7 laps.
On lap 9, Martin Truex Jr. passed Kyle Busch for the lead. Truex then led the next 126 laps.
Big: On lap 9, Kyle Busch’s car was severely overheating because of dirt on his grille, and on lap 10 he came to pit road to get it cleaned off. This dropped Busch a lap down.

Christopher Bell was looking really great on the dirt. On lap 38 he was up to 5th after starting in 15th.
Big: On lap 40, Aric Almirola hit a “dirtuttle” on the track and spun. He was then hit by the Corey LaJoie, Anthony Alfredo and Shane Golobic (#78). They were about to get lapped by Martin Truex Jr. This brought out a red flag.

Notable: On lap 48, William Byron spun Ryan Newman. They were running just outside the top five. Newman didn’t hit anything. Chase Briscoe got into the wall really hard at this time after contact with Harvick. Houff, Ware and Windom spun further back in the pack. Newman didn’t hit anything.
On lap 50, the competition caution came out. These weren’t “Competitive pit stops” and drivers retained their pre-pit position.
Notable: During the competition caution, Chase Briscoe said it felt like his car had a broken shock after his hard contact with the wall on lap 50.
During the competition caution, Joey Logano’s tires were said to look great. Other driver’s tires showed a lot of wear.
Big: On lap 54 while running in 2nd, Christopher Bell spun. He was then hit by Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain. Larson was running in 5th and Ross Chastain was in 11th prior to the incident. Kevin Harvick also got some damage at this time, but it wasn’t on the level of the 20,5 and 42’s. Harvick was running around 10th prior to the incident. Harvick’s steering toe was knocked out. Bell and Chastain’s afternoons were over. Kyle Larson continued but his car was severely wounded.

During the competition caution on lap 151, Joey Logano told his team that after about 40 laps he felt like he had one of the best cars.
Big: During the Stage #2 competition restart, the 00,3,5,12,18,34,37,48,51 and 53 were involved in a multi-car wreck. Visibility was extremely limited at this time. Kyle Busch got a quite a bit of damage at this time. Kyle Busch was running in the mid-teens at the time.
Notable: On lap 161 shortly after a restart, Chase Briscoe was spun into the inside wall.
