Bristol Dirt Fantasy NASCAR Confidence Rankings/ Post Practice Predictions
On Sunday night under the lights, get ready for dirt track racing at “The Last Great Coliseum.” This is year #2 at “Bristol Dirt” and under the lights, I expect the intensity to be ramped up and mass chaos to ensue. This race might look very different than last year’s main event because of the time of day and its impact on the soil.
On Friday, NASCAR held two practice sessions. Here’s Practice #1 Notes and Happy Hour Practice Notes. Also, make sure you check out Practice #1 5,10,15,20 and 25 Lap Averages and Happy Hour 5,10,15,20,25 and 30 Lap Averages.
On Saturday, NASCAR held Heat Races which set the starting lineup. Here’s a look at the Heat Race Results.
Here’s the Bristol Dirt Starting Lineup.
Bristol Full Field Fantasy Rankings
1) Kyle Larson / Start 5th / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Happy Hour Speed Rankings/ 5 Lap Average – 5th / 10 Lap Average – 3rd / 15 Lap Average –2nd / 20 Lap Average – 1st / 25 Lap Average – 1st / 30 Lap Average – 8th
Fantasy Spin – Kyle Larson is the premiere dirt track racer in America, and at Bristol Dirt, you better believe the defending Cup champion will be coming to put on a show. Larson’s dirt racing prowess is second to none, and he’ll know how to find speed on the dynamic surface as it transitions throughout the evening. Last year at Bristol Dirt, Kyle Larson was impressive, but his race was also far from incident free. In the event, Larson started in the back and climbed all the way up to 5th, but then on lap 54, Christopher Bell spun, and Larson nailed him. That ended his competitive evening, but he continued and went on to finish 29th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings in segment #1, Larson managed to rank 4th despite the fact he had to drive up thru the field. In Happy Hour, Kyle Larson was a stopwatch standout, and he liked his car after adjustments. In terms of speed in final practice, Larson had the 2nd best 15 lap average and the best 20 and 25 lap averages. In his Heat Race, Larson looked strong and finished 3rd.

2) Tyler Reddick / Start 3rd / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Happy Hour Speed Rankings/ 5 Lap Average – 1st/ 10 Lap Average – 1st / 15 Lap Average – 1st / 20 Lap Average – 21st / 25 Lap Average – 15th / 30 Lap Average – 10th
Fantasy Spin – At Bristol Dirt, look for Tyler Reddick to be a factor. Reddick’s an accomplished dirt track racer, and last year he had a great debut on the soil. Reddick knows how to search around for speed, and I have no doubt he’ll find the fast lane, and if it’s up high, that’s where you’ll find him laying down fast laps. Last year in the dirt, Reddick finished around 12th in Stage #1, finished 9th in Stage #2, had a 12.2 average running position and then finished 7th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of speed, Reddick was the 9th Fastest Driver Late In A Run and his Total Speed Ranking was the 11th best. Over the segments, Reddick had speed rankings of 22nd, 12th, 9th and 7th. In practice, Tyler Reddick showed up with speed and was one of the best. In Happy Hour, Reddick had the best 5,10 and 15 lap averages. In his Heat Race, Reddick was impressive and raced his way to victory lane (led 11 laps).

3) Christopher Bell / Start 2nd / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Happy Hour Speed Rankings/ 5 Lap Average – 3rd/ 10 Lap Average – 4th/ 15 Lap Average – 30th
Fantasy Spin – At Bristol Dirt, Christopher Bell should be near the top of your fantasy NASCAR radar. Bell is one of the premiere dirt track racers in America, and last year if he didn’t crash, Bell may have very well been the driver to beat. Last year, Bell looked strong, but finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Bell started in 15th but had no trouble racing his way to the front. Bell raced his way up to 2nd, but then on lap 54 he spun and was then nailed by Kyle Larson which marked the end of his race. Another attribute I like about Bell is how well he’s been running. If Bell didn’t have problems at Martinsville and Atlanta, then he would likely be heading into the weekend having finished in the top ten in 5 of the last 6 races. In practice, Christopher Bell looked great. In Happy Hour, Bell had the 3rd best 5 lap average and the 4th best 10 lap average. His 15-lap average was the 30th best, but I think it’s safe to say that’s misleading somehow (tanked a last lap, caution during his run?). In his Heat Race, Bell was happy with his car and raced his way to victory lane (led 6 laps).
