Martin Truex Jr. who started on the pole selected to start in the low line. Truex led the opening 15 laps.
On lap 16, William Byron took the lead, and then led the next 21 laps.

On lap 25, it was mentioned that Martin Truex Jr. didn’t have the front turn that he needed.
Big: On lap 27, Kyle Busch started to have engine problems and was down on speed. On lap 24 shortly before his problem, he was running in 6th. Busch said his engine was blowing up.

At the completion of lap 35, the competition caution came out.
Notable: During the competition caution, Truex said his car didn’t drive good. Truex also had a slow pit stop because a lug nut fell off and interfered with his jack. It dropped him back to 12th.
On lap 42, Michael McDowell reported that his brake pedal was going all the way to the floor.

Big: On lap 119, the last lap of Stage #1, Chase Briscoe was battling Kyle Larson to stay on the lead lap, but he drove too hard into the turn and slammed into the wall. Briscoe was running in 19th. Briscoe got a lot of damage.

Big: During the Stage #1 caution, Kyle Busch’s team went under his hood and they fixed his engine problem. The #18 was back up to speed again, but several laps down.
Notable: During Stage #1 pit stops, Martin Truex had a long pit stop so his team could do some repair to the nose of his car. He apparently got damage when he ran into the back of somebody.
