Charlotte Coca Cola 600 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Aric Almirola
Charlotte Fantasy Spin – At Charlotte, I think Aric Almirola should be solid, but he also could come home with a buzzkill result. Since April, he’s literally rotated between buzz kill results (19th to 26th) and solid finishes (8th to 13th) in every other race. If that trend holds true, he’s due for a good finish. This year between the two high-speed 1.5’s visited, Almirola has the 23rd best Total Speed Ranking.
Charlotte Track History – At Charlotte, Aric Almirola has back-to-back low-twenties finishes, but in the three races prior to that he finished between 11th to 15th. Last year, Almirola wasn’t competitive and finished 22nd. Additionally, Almirola had a 24.6 average running position and had the 25th best Total Speed Ranking. In 2020 Race #2, Almirola was off and in that event he finished 20th and had a 21.8 average running position. In the 2020 Coca Cola 600, Almirola finished 15th, had a 17.2 average running position and had the 17th best Total Speed Ranking. In the two races prior to that, Almirola had results of 11th and 13th.
Justin Haley
Charlotte Fantasy Spin – Justin Haley and the #31 team have been running well, so don’t overlook him at Charlotte. Kansas was far from incident free for him, but in 6 of the 8 races prior to that he finished in the top 15. At Las Vegas, in Haley’s one incident free race at a high-speed 1.5 mile track he finished 17th. Between Kansas and Las Vegas, Haley has the 25th best Total Speed Ranking.
Charlotte Track History – Last year in the #77 in his Cup Charlotte debut, Justin Haley performed about as good as you would expect. In the race, Haley finished 28th, had a 28.9 average running position and had the 31st best Total Speed Ranking.
Chase Briscoe
Charlotte Fantasy Spin – At Charlotte, I think Chase Briscoe is likely about a mid to high-teens driver. I’m basing that off his 2022 level of performance at similar tracks. This year at 1.5-mile high-speed intermediate tracks, Briscoe was mid to high-teens good at Las Vegas (crashed) and then at Kansas (spun into the grass) he finished 24th. His combined Total Speed Ranking between the two is the 19th best.
Charlotte Track History – Last year at Charlotte, Chase Briscoe had a forgettable debut. In the race he finished three laps down in 23rd. Additionally, Briscoe had the 23rd best Total Speed Ranking and a 23.7 average running position.
