World Wide Technology Raceway Mid Pack Predictions
Justin Haley – Justin Haley has a Truck series win under his belt at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway) back in 2018, so he definitely won’t be a rookie when the series hits the track. This year at the shorter-flat tracks visited, Haley has results of 17th (Phoenix) and 29th (Richmond). Over the combined events, Haley’s Total Speed Ranking is the 23rd best. Heading into the weekend, Haley has back to back clunker results, but in 8 of the 10 races prior to that he finished in the top 17. On Sunday, I’m going to view him as about a 20th place performer who has some teen’s upside.

Michael McDowell – At Gateway, I have pretty low expectations for Michael McDowell. The #34 team is running better, but I don’t know how well they’ll adopt to a new track compared to others. I do know that this year at shorter-flat tracks he has horrendous results of 27th (Phoenix) and 30th (Richmond) on his resume. That said, over the last five races heading into the weekend, McDowell’s 12.6 average finish is the 9th best in the series. On Sunday, I think he’s a 20’s performer.
Cole Custer – At Gateway, I think Cole Custer is likely a high-teens to low-twenties driver. Since 2021 at shorter-flat tracks minus Phoenix spring 2021, Custer has an 18.3 average finish and a 19.7 average running position. This year at shorter-flat tracks, Custer has the 19th best Total Speed Ranking between the combined events and in the results column his finishes are 16th (Phoenix) and 22nd (Richmond). At Gateway, Custer has a few starts under his belt with his highlight being his 2015 Truck series win.
