Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Pocono (#2 2021)
Chase Elliott – Last year at Pocono in Race #2, Chase Elliott looked to be a top five contender, but his race went downhill in the final Stage when he had two flat tires in short order which led to his asterisk mark 27th. In Stage #2, Elliott finished 5th, but then early in the final Stage while he was running around 5th, he had contact with Bell that cut his tire (contact with Bell on lap 98, cut tire on lap 101). Then on lap 107, Elliott had a flat tire again which cemented him to a poor finish.
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell looked pretty strong last year in race #2 at Pocono but he finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In Stage #2 Bell finished 4th, and then early in the final Stage on lap 97 while he was battling Ross Chastain for 2nd they had contact and then Bell had a flat tire which torpedoed his afternoon.
William Byron – Last year at Pocono, William Byron was one of the best between the combined events. In race #2 at Pocono if Byron had just a splash more of gas, he would’ve raced his way to victory lane. Instead, he ran out in the closing laps and had to come to pit road which led to his 12th. In the race, Byron won Stage #2 and led 22 laps.
Denny Hamlin – Last year in race #2, Hamlin was strong but finished 14th. In the race, Hamlin finished 2nd in Stage #2, was running in 2nd with 4 laps to go but then with 2 to go he had to duck down pit road for fuel. In the race, Hamlin ranked as the 5th Fastest Driver Late In A Run.
