Indy Road Course Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Aric Almirola
Indy Road Course Fantasy Spin – At the Indy Road Course, I think Aric Almirola has mid-teens potential, but that’s really a best case scenario. Realistically, I would feel comfortable viewing him as a high-teens to low-twenties driver. This year at road courses, Almirola finished in the teens in the first two races (19th at COTA, 14th at Sonoma), and at Road America he just had a clunker afternoon that wasn’t incident free and finished 28th. Over the three combined races on this track type in 2022, Almirola has a 20.3 average finish, a 24th place average running position, ranks 25th for long run speed and 26th for Total Speed Rankings.
Indy Road Course Track History – Last year at the Indy Road Course, Almirola didn’t have a smooth afternoon and things went south on lap 9 when he had contact with Corey LaJoie which damaged his front bumper which led to an early unexpected pit stop. Later in the race on lap 40, Almirola was shown to have spun back in the field and his car had a notable amount of damage at that time. In the race, Almirola never ran well and had a 32.6 average running position and the 33rd best Total Speed Ranking. On lap 68 which was 14 laps until the scheduled distance, Almirola was running way back in 36th. When the checkered flag waved, Almirola finished 19th thanks to the apocalyptic attrition rate.
Joey Hand
Indy Road Course Fantasy Spin – Joey Hand will be piloting the #15 at Indy RC, and I think he realistically has high-teens upside if he can avoid a Rick Ware Racing equipment letdown. In 2022, his equipment failed him at COTA, but at Sonoma he finished 20th and at Road America he finished 21st.
Indy Road Course Track History – Joey Hand doesn’t have any sort of Stock car racing record to speak of at Indy RC.
Ty Dillon
Indy Road Course Fantasy Spin – This year at road courses, Ty Dillon hasn’t been flashy, but so far, he’s 3 for 3 at finishing between 20th to 23rd. Over the events, Dillon has results of 20th (COTA), 20th (Road America) and 23rd (Sonoma). In terms of 2022 Road Course speed analytics, Dillon has the 31st best Total Speed Ranking and ranks 26th for Speed Late In A Run.
