Asterisk Mark Report – Michigan (2021)
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon had a fast car last year at Michigan and was a top five contender but he finished an asterisk mark 36th. In the race, Dillon finished 3rd in Stage #1, 6th in Stage #2 and then right after crossing the finish line in Stage #2 he wrecked after contact with Keselowski which led to his poor result. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Dillon ranked 5th.
Ross Chastain – Last year in his old ride, Ross Chastain didn’t have a good race at Michigan and finished an asterisk mark 32nd. On lap 117, Chastain had some sort of problem that sent him to the garage and then after that you could stick a fork in him. On lap 99 just prior to that extended pit cycle starting, Chastain was running in 25th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Chastain ranked as the 28th fastest.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano was a top ten contender last year at Michigan, but late in the race he was involved in a wreck that led to his 33rd place finish. In the race, Logano finished 6th in Stage #1, around 14th in Stage #2 and was running around 8th at the time of his demise with 15 laps to go. Additionally, Logano had an 11.8 average running position and had the 9th best Total Speed Ranking.
