Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Richmond (#1 2022)
Joey Logano – This spring at Richmond, Joey Logano was a top five contender, but he finished an asterisk mark 17th. In the race, Logano finished 8th in Stage #1, 4th in Stage #2 but then around lap 260 during a caution under yellow while running in 2nd, Logano had a long pit stop that dropped him back to the teens and then for whatever reason, he never bounced back after he was mired in traffic.
Ross Chastain – Ross Chastain finished 19th this spring at Richmond, but that’s an asterisk mark result. In the race, Chastain finished 3rd in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2 but then early in the final Stage while he was battling Ryan Blaney for 4th, they had contact and for whatever reason, the #1 was never as strong and faded back in the running order. Over the segments, Chastain had speed rankings of 2nd, 10th, 11th and then 29th.
Kyle Busch – At Richmond, Kyle Busch has three straight asterisk mark results in a row courtesy of last Stage penalties. In April at “The Action Track”, Busch’s afternoon went slightly south when NASCAR black flagged him with about 50 laps to go forcing him to remove tape. At the time of that incident, he was running in 6th. When the checkered flag waved, Busch finished 9th. In the race, Busch finished 9th in Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 13 laps and had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking. If Busch’s afternoon would’ve been incident free, I think he was clearly a top five contender.
