Asterisk Mark Report – Texas (Fall 2021)
Joey Logano – In 9 of the last 11 Texas races, Joey Logano has finished in the top ten. If his motor didn’t blow up last fall on lap 298 while running in 10th, Logano would likely be 10 for 11 in the stat just mentioned. In terms of Total Speed Rankings last fall, Logano ranked 8th.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin was a top five contender last fall at Texas, but like in many of his recent races in the “Lone Star State”, Hamlin’s afternoon went south in the closing laps. Last fall, Hamlin was running in 5th with 21 laps to go but then he developed a tire rub that was smoking. Then two laps after that, Hamlin spun and brought out the caution. Then in the closing laps, Hamlin was even involved in an accident that damaged the #11, but I don’t think it impacted him results wise. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hamlin ranked 5th.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick finished 9th last fall at Texas, but I’ll note that’s a misleading result. On lap 326 while battling William Byron for 2nd, they had contact which led to Reddick falling rapidly in the running order over the few remaining laps left. In the race, Reddick had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking and a 6th place average running position.
