Denny Hamlin who started on the pole led the opening 9 laps. Hamlin drove away from the field early.

Martin Truex Jr. was said to be struggling early and his car wasn’t handling well.

Notable: On lap 5 while running around 20th, Aric Almirola was shown to be spun out and temporarily stopped on the track before he got going again. Almirola didn’t have any visible notable damage. It dropped him to last.

Notable: On lap 14, Brad Keselowski spun while running in 4th. It dropped him deep in the running order.

Notable: Ryan Newman had a flat tire and smacked the wall on lap 20. This brought out a caution. This was shortly before the Stage caution, so a lot of the field came to pit road.

Notable: During the Ryan Newman caution, Denny Hamlin was caught speeding on pit road which dropped him to the back.

AJ Allmendinger who finished 2nd in Stage #1 stayed out and didn’t pit during the Stage #1 caution. A few others stayed out too which included Kyle Busch, Byron, McDowell, Harvick and Larson.

On lap 30, Kyle Busch took the lead and then led the next 22 laps.

Notable: On lap 32 while running in 8th, Alex Bowman radioed his team that he felt they had alternator problems.

Notable: On lap 33 while running in 3rd, Kyle Larson radioed his team about having volt issues.

Notable: On lap 33 while running well back in the pack, Chase Briscoe spun which brought out the caution. Briscoe was running back in the 20’s.

Big: During the Chase Briscoe caution, Kyle Larson had a long pit stop. He got a new battery and a new alternator belt.

Big: Alex Bowman had a long pit stop to try to fix his electrical issue during the Chase Briscoe caution.

Notable: On lap 44, Cole Custer who was running inside the top ten was shown to be spun out and stopped on the track. He fell to the back. No caution came out.

Late in Stage #2, much of the field dove to pit road. Essentially everybody but Kyle Busch, Harvick and Elliott came to pit road.
