Group A Practice Notes
Ryan Blaney – The #12 was fast. Ryan Blaney climbed to the top of the speed chart on lap 3. Blaney started with a long +30 lap run so he should have a good feel for his car. After his long opening run, Blaney said, “I kind of felt something start to go wrong. I decided to come in. It went flat coming down pit road. Fortunately, we caught it. Now, it’s trying to figure out what the problem is and how to fix it.”
Bubba Wallace – The #45 had good speed. Five minutes into practice, Wallace was 5th on the speed chart and had the 4th best 5-lap average. Wallace reported that he was having trouble with the bumps in turns 1 and 2. Wallace is using his Kansas car. Wallace said his ride quality was rough. He’s excited about his chances this weekend. His five-lap average was the 8th best.
Chase Elliott – After his first run, Chase Elliott liked his balance in turns three and four. His car was said to be a little rough over the bumps in one and two. Elliott was 9th, ten minutes into practice.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones unloaded fast. Three laps into practice in Group A, Jones was 2nd on the speed chart. His five-lap average was the 3rd best between both groups.
Daniel Suarez – Daniel Suarez had good speed in Group A. 7 minutes into practice he was 3rd on the speed chart. His five-lap average was the 7th best.
