Homestead Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Joey Logano
Homestead Fantasy Spin – Joey Logano, the 2018 Homestead winner should be penciled in for a strong showing. Homestead’s been a great track for him and in 5 of the last 7 races he’s finished in the top 6. Late in September when testing was done here, Penske cars were fast and Logano was the fastest driver on day #2, and the 2nd fastest on day #1. Over the two races held at 1.5-mile tracks since the Homestead test, Logano’s come home with results of 1st (Las Vegas) and 2nd (Texas). This year at high-wear intermediates, Logano has been a standout performer and on this track type, Logano ranks #1 for Total Speed Rankings, has 1 win (Darlington), a series best 3.3 average finish, a series best 4.9 average running position and the best driver rating. On Sunday, look for Logano to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Homestead Track History – Joey Logano is a former winner at Homestead who’s finished in the top six in 5 of the last 7 races. The bad news is that his two results not in the top 6, have come in the last two races. Last year, Logano started 2nd, led 12 laps, finished 7th in Stage #1, around the mid-teens in Stage #2 and then finished 25th when the checkered flag waved. I’ll note, Logano wasn’t quite as bad as his result, but he wasn’t all that much better. On lap 228 he was running in 20th, but then a few laps later he pitted in a pit strategy gamble hoping to catch a lucky break caution that never materialized. In the race, Logano had the 13th best Total Speed Ranking and ranked 16th for speed late in a run. In 2020, Logano looked very competitive, but finished an asterisk mark 27th. In the race Logano started 2nd and led 27 laps early, but then during the caution for rain around lap 33 he had major problems on pit road and ran into the back of Quin Houff which damaged the nose of the #22. After that his race was pretty much so over, but that wasn’t his last problem. Around lap 170, Logano had contact with Newman which brought out a caution and resulted in notable body damage to the #22. In the five Homestead races prior to that, Logano finished in the top 6 every race, had a 4.0 average finish and a 5.3 average running position. In those events his results were 5th (2019), 1st (2018), 6th (2017), 4th (2016) and 4th (2015).
Don’t be a pretender, become a contender and get the ifantasyrace advantage.
Denny Hamlin
Homestead Fantasy Spin – Three-time Homestead winner, Denny Hamlin should be near the top of your fantasy NASCAR radar. Hamlin’s long proven to be one of the premiere performers here, and you also have to like his prowess at 1.5-mile tracks and high-wear intermediates this year (won at Darlington in the Playoffs). In late September when testing was done at Homestead, Hamlin ranked 3rd for speed on day #1 and 5th on day #2. On Sunday, look for Hamlin to finish in the top five and compete for the win.
Homestead Track History – Denny Hamlin has been stout at Homestead. Hamlin’s a three-time winner and over the last five races, Hamlin has the 5th best average finish (8.6), the 5th best average running position (7.2) and the 5th best driver rating. I’ll note however, in 6 of the last 7 he’s finished between 9th to 12th. Last year, Hamlin started in the back, finished just outside the top ten in Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2 but then finished an asterisk mark 11th when the checkered flag waved. On lap 194 he was running in 4th, but then during the lap 201 caution he was caught speeding on pit road which dropped him to the back. In terms of speed stats, Hamlin ranked 7th for speed late in a run and 11th for Total Speed Rankings. In 2020, Hamlin was the class of the field and raced his way to victory lane. In the race he won Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 137 laps and had a 1.8 average running position. In terms of speed analytics, Hamlin was the Fastest Driver Late In A Run and had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking. Across the four segments of the race in terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hamlin ranked in the top 3 (1,3,2 and 3). In 2019, Hamlin had a great car but finished an asterisk mark 10th. In the race he finished 5th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #2 and was running in 3rd with 49 laps to go until his engine started overheating which led to an unexpected pit stop. In terms of Speed Analytics, Hamlin had the 4th best Green Flag Average Speed and ranked as the 4th Fastest Driver Late In A Run.
Tyler Reddick
Homestead Fantasy Spin – Make sure Tyler Reddick is on your short list of favorites at Homestead. The high-line is the fast-line around this worn-out 1.5-mile track, and Reddick’s one of the premiere drivers at running that groove. This year at high-wear intermediates, Reddick has arguably been the best. Reddick had the field covered at Auto Club until he had a flat tire (Led 90 laps, won the opening two segments), and then at Darlington he had results of 2nd and 3rd. At 1.5-mile tracks this year as long as he’s avoided trouble, Reddick’s proven to be one of the better performers and over the four races he’s avoided trouble his average finish is 5th. On Sunday, look for Reddick to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Homestead Track History – Tyler Reddick is always a contender whenever he suits up to race at Homestead. Reddick’s won here twice in the Xfinity series, and on the Cup level, he’s a future winner in waiting. In Cup, Reddick has a 29.5 average starting position, but take note of his series best 3.0 average finish. Last year, Reddick wasn’t all that great, but when the money was on the line, Reddick moved up to the top groove and maneuvered his way to a 2nd place finish. In the race, Reddick started 35th, had a 17.6 average running position and didn’t place in any Stage. In terms of speed stats, Reddick was the 3rd Fastest Driver Late In A Run, and his Total Speed Ranking was the 15th best, but take note in the final segment he was at his best and ranked 6th. In 2020, Reddick was impressive and finished 4th. In the race, Reddick started in 24th but drove up through the running order with ease. On lap 12 he was in 10th, and then on lap 27 he was up to 2nd. In our exclusive Total Speed Rankings, Reddick ranked #1 and was the fastest driver in segments #2 and #4. Across the four segments, Reddick was never lower than 3rd in terms of speed. Also in the race, Reddick ran the most fastest laps (48), had a 3.9 average running position, finished 3rd in Stage #1, 2nd in Stage #2 and ranked as the 4th Fastest Driver Late In A Run.
