Bet: Ross Chastain (+1000)
Last week at Auto Club Ross had a strong showing coming home with a third-place finish while leading 91 laps. I’m not sure that Ross Chastain can entirely fly under the radar, but I feel like we’re leaning in that direction. He looked to be one of the favorites heading into this weekend, but after winning the pole Joey Logano is now tied with last week’s winner Kyle Busch as the co-favorites at 6/1. Ross had a solid qualifying effort earlier today allowing him to roll off the grid in the eighth starting position tomorrow. His practice session was even better with the seventh-best 5-lap average and the fifth-best 10-lap average. Chastain is also no stranger to past success at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He was strong in both races here last season producing a 2.5 average finish with a 4.8 average running position which both rank as best in the series. That speed showed consistently at comparable tracks as Ross was often at or near the front. Ross currently sits with 10/1 odds which is the sixth shortest. I believe his odds should be closer to the aforementioned Logano and Busch. It likely will be before the green flag is waved, so we’re getting this bet in now.
