Group A Practice Notes
Josh Berry – Josh Berry is driving the #9 car in place of Chase Elliott who injured himself on Friday during a snowboarding accident. Josh Berry has never been in a Next Gen car until today. Five minutes into Group A, Berry was 13th of 16 drivers on the track in terms of speed. Berry reported that his car feels good. Berry was basically feeling out his car during the session. His spotter said, “Just got to build your confidence up off the wall and that will come.” During an, interview Berry said it went well and he felt comfortable. He said he was happy so far.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick will start in the rear of the field on Sunday. On Saturday, Reddick didn’t practice or qualify due to his team changing engines.
William Byron – The #24 car had good speed over a run early in practice. About 8-minutes into practice, Byron had the best 5 and 10 lap averages. Towards the end of practice, Byron told his team, “I have a hard time really complaining here.” When Byron asked about his car his crew chief said, “Really good here, really good.”
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch came to pit road fairly early in Group #1 practice for changes. Busch came in for more adjustments shortly after he returned to the track. 15 minutes into practice #1, Busch ranked 12th out of 16. Busch said his nose feels too stiff. He’s too tight. Busch reported that his Chevy is insecure with the left rear thru the bumps. His car was tight on entry.
