Asterisk Mark Report – Phoenix
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. had a great car last fall at Phoenix, so make sure you disregard his asterisk mark 15th. In the race, Truex finished 5th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2 but then in the final Stage during the Bowman caution around lap 267 while he was running around 8th, Truex was caught speeding on pit road. In terms of speed stats, Truex had the 6th best Total Speed Ranking.
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell finished 10th last fall at Phoenix, but that’s an asterisk mark result. “Performance Wise”, I think Bell was a top five contender but problems on pit road led to his misleading finish. In Stage #2, Bell finished 6th, but then in the final Stage around lap 267 while running in 5th, the #20 team had a slow stop that dropped him back to the teens.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick runs well at Phoenix, but the results column has been brutal and in 5 of his 6 races he’s finished 19th or worse. Last fall, Reddick was a top ten contender but finished an asterisk mark 23rd. In the race, Reddick finished 9th in Stage #1, 9th in Stage #2 but then during the restart for the final Stage while running around 16th after having a slow stop, he spun and following that he said something broke.
