NASCAR debuted a new aero package this weekend giving the teams an additional 50-minute practice session on Friday evening. More practice time is always good for us as it gives us more relevant data and information to dig into.
Bet: Kyle Larson Top Three Finish (+260)
Earlier in the week Larson could generally be found at most books in the 9/1 range to win, but that number is long gone. He is now the favorite at 4/1, with Hamlin being the next closest at 7/1. During the 50-minute practice session on Friday evening, Larson unloaded with an absolute rocket ship. He stole the show and was good enough to have the best 5-lap, 10-lap, 20-lap, 25-lap, and 30-lap averages. Earlier today he showed no signs of slowing down as he took his Hendrickcars.com Chevy and won the pole position for Sunday’s race. Larson noted during his pole-winning interview that he was happy with both the handling and speed of his car. He is also no stranger to success here at Phoenix with a win back in 2021 and top-ten finishes in 7 of his last 8 races here.
The driver with the far and away fastest car of the weekend combined with past track success must be on your betting card. Betting a 4/1 winner in NASCAR is not something I’m interested in, but we can still get some Larson exposure and find value with this top-three finish line at Fan Duel. I don’t expect this +260 to be around too long, so bet it now.
