COTA NASCAR Practice Notes
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick unloaded fast and sat at the top of the leaderboard for almost the entirety of the session. Reddick must feel good about his car since he started with a 10-lap run, and nobody else did. Late in practice, Reddick jumped back up to the top of the speed chart. In practice, Reddick had the best 5 and 10 lap averages.
Jordan Taylor – Jordan Taylor is piloting the #9 this week in place of Chase Elliott. On his 3rd lap, Taylor jumped up to 4th on the speed chart. Taylor ended practice 10th overall. I’ll note, Taylor had what I would deem as a misleading 5-lap average.
William Byron – 15 minutes into practice while he was 7th, Byron reported to his team, “A bit free so far.” Late in practice while he was 13th Byron was told, “Nice consistent laps here.” Byron had the 5th best 5-lap average. The #24 looks to be strong this weekend.
Michael McDowell – The #34 had good speed. 20 minutes into practice, McDowell ranked 2nd in terms of 5 lap averages. When practice ended, McDowell’s 5-lap average ranked as the 7th best.
Austin Dillon – 25 minutes into practice while he was 28th, Dillon reported that his car gets better as the air pressure builds and he couldn’t get the throttle down as much as he needs to. Dillon ended practice 30th overall. His 5-lap average ranked as the 11th best.
