Chase Briscoe who started in 4th, led the opening 48 laps.
Christopher Bell looked great early and was pressuring Chase Briscoe for the lead.

Notable: On lap 12, Cole Custer who was running around 6th, dived down pit road to get his nosed cleaned. His grille was full of mud.
Notable: On lap 13, Aric Almirola came to pit road to clean his grill. While he was on pit road, the caution came out.
Notable: Kevin Harvick got lapped before the competition caution came out.
On lap 14, a competition caution came out. Everybody came to pit road to clean off their grille’s. Pits stops under caution were non-competitive. Aric Almirola got the free pass at this time.

Big: On lap 48 after just getting passed for the lead, Chase Briscoe got slightly into the wall, then he had a flat tire and spun out which brought out the caution.

Ryan Blaney started in 25th, on lap 72 he was up to 9th.
Notable: On the last lap of Stage #1, Justin Allgier got into the wall. This somehow marked the end of his race despite it not looking bad.

During the Stage #1 caution, Kyle Larson told his team he really liked his car. He had good balance. This was Kyle Larson’s first Stage win of the season.
Christopher Bell told his team he liked his car during the Stage caution.
Notable: Daniel Suarez didn’t pit during the Stage #1 caution. Passing was difficult and his team felt like it was a good opportunity to use strategy. This got Suarez the lead and he then led the next 64 laps. Ross Chastain and Chase Briscoe also elected not to pit at this time.
Following the Stage #1 caution, Kevin Harvick got back on the lead lap.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had a good car around lap 80 and he focused on running at the bottom of the track. He was running around 12th at the time.
Big: On lap 90, Denny Hamlin’s #11 was said to be stuttering. On lap 91 his race was over due to an engine failure. Hamlin didn’t run well and was back in the 20’s at the time.
Notable: On lap 91, Alex Bowman spun out which brought out a caution. Bowman was running in 14th at the time.

Big: On lap 98, a multi-car accident that ensued. Drivers involved were Alex Bowman, Corey LaJoie, Noah Gragson and Kevin Harvick. Kevin Harvick had a lot of damage, and this accident marked the end of his race. His tie rod was broken.

Notable: On lap 114, Brad Keselowski spun which brought out the caution. He had contact with Austin Dillon while they were battling for 11th. Keselowski didn’t hit anything.
On lap 119 during a restart, DW noted that Ross Chastain was struggling on restarts.

On lap 127, a debris caution came out.
Notable: On lap 132, a multi-car accident ensued. Drivers collected were Corey LaJoie, Bubba Wallace and Harrison Burton. All cars were essentially OK. Bubba Wallace bounced off the all and then chaos ensued. Just prior to that, Wallace was in the high-teens and Burton and LaJoie were in the 20’s.
During the Wallace, LaJoie and Burton caution, it started to sprinkle, and a few restarts were called off.
