Bristol Dirt Betting Odds, Picks, Predictions
David (@DR_Tenn) will be by each week to provide his best bets and race-day thoughts. Be sure to check back in up until the green flag waves for updates and added bets. As always, be sure to shop around to find the best numbers as they’ll vary and change tremendously from book to book.
Another week where mother nature deals us an unwanted hand taking resulting in less track time. With the nature of this race, I’ll be attacking this week just like the last few weeks, with a light betting card entering the race while looking for live betting opportunities throughout. Be sure to check back for race day plays after we see how the heat races shake things up. Until then there is one matchup I want on my betting card before the heats get started:
Bet:
Daniel Suarez over Martin Truex Jr. (+100)
Suarez caught my eye in this matchup a few days ago, but I wasn’t willing to pay the juice to make it happen. Bristol dirt is one of those wild card-type races where the unexpected can happen so laying a lot of juice isn’t something I’m looking to do, but this line has moved to even money, a spot where I’m willing to bite. Suarez won’t make anyone’s list of “dirt guys”, but his results, albeit in a small sample, speak for themselves.
Over the two combined Bristol Dirt races Suarez has an 8th-place average finish and a 101.2 driver rating, both rank as 4th-best in the series. His 9.3 average running position is good enough to rank as 3rd-best. I don’t expect him to battle for the win, but a top-ten finish is well within his grasp.
On the flip side, Truex has been less than consistent here on the dirt. He showed a ton of speed during the inaugural event in 2021, but ultimately fell victim to an ill-timed tire issue that ruined his race at the end. Last Spring, however, Truex was just off with an all-around mediocre performance. He started 30th and had a 26.8 average running position. He ultimately came home with a 21st-place finish.
