Asterisk Mark Report – Martinsville (Fall 2022)
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski finished 36th last fall at Martinsville on paper, but you can easily get out an asterisk mark for that result. In the race, Keselowski finished 6th in Stage #1, 7th in Stage #2, had a 7.4 average running position, had the 7th best Total Speed Ranking and crossed the finish line in 4th. During post-race inspection, he was DQ’ed for not meeting the minimum weight requirement.
Austin Dillon – Not many drivers had problems last fall at Martinsville, but Austin Dillon was one of them and he finished an asterisk mark 34th. On lap 320 while running in 19th (two laps down at the time), Dillon had a brake rotor failure and careened into the wall hard which marked the end of his race. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Dillon ranked 17th.
Tyler Reddick – Last fall at Martinsville, Tyler Reddick completed 188 laps before he pulled into the garage and said, “His Head Hurts.” It’s kind of a confusing situation but supposedly someone got into the back of him which caused it, at least in my understanding. “Performance Wise”, Reddick never ran well, and I can’t even say he was a top twenty performer at any point. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Reddick ranked 32nd.
