Chris Buescher who started on the pole selected to start in the outside groove. Buescher led the opening 18 laps.

On lap 19, Denny Hamlin passed Chris Buescher for the lead. Hamlin then led the next 55 laps. Buescher got loose while he was coming up to lap Gilliland, and Hamlin took advantage of the situation.

On lap 68 the caution came out for rain. They ran 15 laps for caution under this rain caution and racing resumed on lap 84 which was then on MONDAY.
During the rain caution, Larson, Elliott, Truex, Byron, Bell and Almirola didn’t pit which got them to the front.

Big: During the Stage #1 caution following pit stops, Denny Hamlin lost a wheel. Hamlin just won Stage #1 and the race off pit road.
Big: Shortly after the restart for Stage #2, Christopher Bell who just finished 3rd in Stage #1 had a loose wheel and made an unexpected pit stop.

Big: While running in 7th on lap 156, Kyle Larson spun around and got slightly into the inside wall which brought out a caution. His tire shredding did some hood damage to the #5. This dropped Larson a lap down.

Big: On lap 189, Kurt Busch spun and brought out a caution. He was running in 15th at the time. The #45 had quite a bit of damage.
Justin Haley and Alex Bowman stayed out during the Kurt Busch caution. Others who didn’t pit were Wallace, Allmendinger, Suarez, Reddick, Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon.
Big: During the restart for the Kurt Busch caution, Joey Logano got into the wall hard after contact with Erik Jones. Logano was running around 20th at the time and not having a good race.
Christopher Bell got back on the lead lap during the Logano caution.

Big: On lap 236, Ty Dillon had a tire come apart which led to him also making an unexpected pit stop. Dillon was in the high-twenties at the time.
Big: On lap 240, Denny Hamlin spun into the inside wall. Hamlin was in 4th place at the time. Hamlin had a good amount of damage. Cody Ware spun in front of Hamlin and the #11 got damage and spun around.
