Dover Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Chase Briscoe
Dover Fantasy Spin – At Dover, don’t overlook Briscoe. He may have a bionic hand now, but there’s no denying he’s hot. Since breaking his hand, Briscoe has a 4.7 average finish and he’s the only driver who’s 3 for 3 at finishing in the top ten over that stretch. At Dover, Briscoe has one good result and one bad result on his resume, but his good result was last year so I’m optimistic. On Sunday, I’m going to view Briscoe as a low double-digit to mid-teens driver who has a good chance to finish in the top ten.
Dover Track History – Last year at Dover, Chase Briscoe closed out the race strong and finished 13th. That said, Briscoe wasn’t that great for much of the race. In the event Briscoe had a 21.6 average running position and the 23rd best Total Speed Ranking. I will note though, the #14 got faster as the race progressed and his speed over the segments were 27th, 26th, 19th and then 14th. In 2021 in his debut, Briscoe had a tough afternoon. On the last lap of Stage #1 while he was running in 19th and trying to stay on the lead lap, he drove too hard into the corner and slammed into the wall hard. The damage was heavy, and it doomed him to a 35th place finish.
Chris Buescher
Dover Fantasy Spin – Don’t overlook Chris Buescher at Dover. Buescher had a strong showing last year, and although I view Dover as a unique track, Buescher did race his way to victory lane at Bristol last fall and some say there is correlation between the two. On Sunday, I’m going to view Buescher as a low double-digit to mid-teens driver who has a good chance to finish in the top ten.
Dover Track History – Last year at Dover, Chris Buescher had a hot rod and ran well throughout the race. In the event he won the pole, led 18 laps, finished 8th in Stage #1, 9th in Stage #2 and then finished 8th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of speed stats, Buescher had the 5th best Total Speed Ranking and ranked 10th for speed late in a run. In the three races prior to that, Buescher had results of 17th, 14th and 16th.
Daniel Suarez
Dover Fantasy Spin – At Dover, look for Daniel Suarez to have a strong showing. Suarez has run well here and minus 2020 where he drove the junk #96, Suarez has finished in the top 14 every race and has a 9.4 average finish. On Sunday, I’m going to view Suarez as a risky low double-digit to mid-teens driver. I say risky because the #99 team has not been finishing well recently.
Dover Track History – Daniel Suarez has performed at a high-level at Dover. Last year, Suarez was OK. In the race he finished 14th, had a 16.1 average running position and had the 20th best Total Speed Ranking. I’ll note, Suarez didn’t have an incident free race and on lap 333 while running in 12th, he spun which brought out a caution. In 2021, Suarez had one of his best afternoons of the 2021 season. In the race, Suarez finished 9th, had a 14.3 average running position, had the 16th best Total Speed Ranking and take note that over the final 100 laps, Suarez had the 10th fastest car on the track.
