Notable: Daniel Suarez started in the rear of the field and due to three inspection failures, he had to serve a pass thru penalty under green at the start. It dropped Suarez a lap down.
Joey Logano who started on the pole selected the high-line and he led the opening 37 laps. Overall to start the race, Logano led 64 of the first 65 laps.
On lap 5, the caution came out for rain. Daniel Suarez got back on the lead lap at this time.

Kyle Busch was mentioned to have had the best car in practice the day before on lap 35.
On lap 35, the competition caution came out.
Notable: During the competition caution, Kevin Harvick’s pit crew had a miscue that led to a slow pit stop. Harvick almost left their pit stall with a loose wheel, but he stopped. It dropped Harvick from the mid-teens back to 33rd.

Big: On lap 79, Kyle Larson made an unexpected pit stop. Larson said he had no power. His team went under his hood for a long pit stop. He was running in 13th just prior to that round of green flag pit stops. He returned to the track but was notably slow. Later on lap 91, the #5 was back up to speed somehow.
Big: Something happened that caused Stenhouse to fall off the lead lap, six laps down around the time of the green flag pit cycle.

The left rear was noted to not look right and it was some sort of suspension issue. Earnhardt Jr. said he was way off pace. Left rear “drive pins” were said to be messed up.
Big: On lap 169, Ross Chastain came back to pit road. It was a long pit stop.

On lap 340, Cody Ware brought his car to a stop which brought out the caution.

Big: Under caution while leading and just having won the race off pit road, smoke was coming from Kyle Busch’s car. His engine blew up.
Notable: Ryan Blaney came down pit road under caution to tighten a wheel. Blaney was in 10th prior to that.
During the restart for the Ware caution, Erik Jones shot to the lead.
