Darlington NASCAR Practice Notes
Bubba Wallace – The #23 was one of the best on the stopwatch over a long run. Wallace ranked 2nd between both groups for 15,20 and 25 lap averages. Wallace was happy with his car and said he had speed.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones was said to be sick this weekend. It was debatable if he would even practice or not. Erik Jones showed some short run speed early but his ten-lap average among drivers in Group A was the 2nd worst (perhaps he eased up at the end?)
Tyler Reddick – His crew chief was ejected from the track this weekend due to major inspection issues. The #45 was one of the better cars in Group A. Reddick had the 10th best 25-lap average between both groups.
Chase Elliott – The #9 unloaded fast and ran quick lap times. Elliott had the 2nd best 10-lap average and ranked #1 for 15,20 and 25 lap averages.
William Byron – The #24 was fast. Midway thru practice while he was 3rd, Byron said, “Just a little bit of wander down the back.” Byron had the best 10-lap average. Byron had speed but he wants his car to be a little bit better. Byron had the best 10-lap average and the 4th best 20-lap average.
