Asterisk Mark Report – Nashville
Martin Truex Jr. – Last year at Nashville, Martin Truex Jr was a standout performer, but he finished an asterisk mark 22nd. With 10 laps to go he was running in 4th, but then a few laps later during the last caution, he chose to pit which dropped him back to 15th. Then the wild final restart dropped him even further back. In the race, Truex won Stage #1, won Stage #2, had the 2nd best average running position (4.4), the 3rd best driver rating and led 82 laps.
Kyle Busch – Last year at Nashville, Kyle Busch had the 2nd best car in terms of PROS Rankings but he finished an asterisk mark 21st. In the race, Busch started in the back, finished 9th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2, led 54 laps and was running in 2nd with 10 to go, before he decided to pit during the final caution which dropped him back to 12th. Then back in traffic, things got wild, which dropped him even further back. In terms of speed stats, Busch had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking and ranked 3rd for Speed Late In A Run.
Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher was a top ten contender last year at Nashville but finished an asterisk mark 30th. Buescher ran around the top ten for much of the final Stage but lost a wheel on lap 254 and crashed. On lap 239 shortly before his demise which happened during a green flag pit cycle, Buescher was running in 9th.
