Chicago Street Course NASCAR Practice Notes
Shane Van Gisbergen – Shane Van Gisbergen had great speed in practice. Gisbergen ended practice #1 overall. Gisbergen said his car felt “Perfect.” His 10-lap average ranked as the 9th best. This weekend, he’s driving the Track House #91.
William Byron – 15 minutes into practice, William Byron got into the wall hard and damaged his car. He broke his toe link. Byron was 8th on the speed chart at the time. Later in practice, Byron returned to the track to continue practice. His 5-lap average was the 7th best.
Denny Hamlin – The #11 showed up with speed this weekend. Hamlin really likes his car. Hamlin had the best 5 and 10 lap averages.
Austin Cindric – 20 minutes into practice, Austin Cindric crashed which brought out a caution. Cindric didn’t show a lot of speed and his 5-lap average was the 30th best.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. crashed into the wall hard 25 minutes into practice. His team was repairing his car on pit road, and he didn’t get to post a qualifying lap.
