Asterisk Mark Report – Atlanta #1 2023
Kevin Harvick – This spring at Atlanta, Kevin Harvick looked strong and showed potential, but he also crashed and finished an asterisk mark 33rd. In the race, Harvick was the leader on lap 189, but then that very lap, Ross Chastain took the air off the #4 which led to Harvick crashing.
William Byron – This spring at Atlanta, William Byron looked great but finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In the race, Byron finished 5th in Stage #2, was in 3rd on lap 185 but then on lap 189 he crashed when Harvick spun.
Kyle Larson – This spring, Larson looked great and was a top five contender, but he crashed while running in 2nd when race leader, Aric Almirola had a sudden flat tire on lap 208 which marked the end of his race and led to his 31st.
Aric Almirola – This spring at Atlanta, Aric Almirola looked great but finished an asterisk mark 30th. In the race, Almirola led 17 laps but on lap 208 while leading, Almirola had a flat tire and crashed which marked the end of his race.
Daniel Suarez – Daniel Suarez has been good at Atlanta. Suarez swept the top ten in 2022, and this spring he could’ve potentially made it 3 for 3 but on lap 208 he was caught up in the carnage when Almirola had a flat tire while leading. One lap prior to his demise which led to his 29th, Suarez was running in 6th.
Bubba Wallace – This spring at Atlanta, I really don’t have any takeaways from Wallace’s performance, and he finished an asterisk mark 27th. On lap 10 while running in 19th, he spun into the inside wall which essentially marked the end to his competitive afternoon.
Chris Buescher – This spring at Atlanta, Chris Buescher had a strong showing but finished an asterisk mark 35th. In the race, Buescher finished 8th in Stage #1, 6th in Stage #2, led 5 laps, was running in 10th on lap 185 but then on lap 189 he was caught up in a multi-car wreck which marked the end of his race.
Ryan Preece – How good was Ryan Preece this spring at Atlanta? It’s hard to say since he had battery issues quite early which led to him finishing 16 laps down in 28th.
Harrison Burton – This spring at Atlanta, Harrison Burton didn’t look great, and he crashed which led to his 34th. On lap 185 shortly before his demise he was running in 26th.
