Group A Practice Notes
Michael McDowell – Michael McDowell unloaded fast. The #34 team really liked the line McDowell was using. The #34 car was said to be impressive. McDowell ended group A, #1 overall. McDowell was said to be happy with his car, but he said his team has some work to do on the long run. McDowell said he unloaded where he needed to be. McDowell ended practice with the 2nd best 5,10 and 15 lap averages.
Martin Truex Jr. – The #19 looked had great speed in practice. Jeff Burton really liked how Truex looked. The #19 was said to be in a zip Code of its own in Group #1. “We’re OK on speed but we need to get a little faster.” Truex had the best 5 and 10 lap averages.
Kyle Busch – 10 minutes into practice, Kyle Busch tagged the wall pretty hard. Up until that point, Busch only ran 4-laps and was 7th in Group #1. Before getting into the wall, Busch said his car was wrecking loose. Busch never made a 5-lap run.
Austin Cindric – Following his first run which put him 12th, Cindric said his car is tight everywhere, but it’s a little better on the flat than when he ventures to the outside lane. Cindric didn’t have a lot of speed.
Denny Hamlin – The #11 car looked solid in practice. 10 minutes into practice his ten-lap average ranked as the 3rd best. Hamlin had the 4th best 10-lap average.
