The Low Tier – Richmond
JJ Yeley – At Richmond, look for JJ Yeley to be a mid to high-twenties driver. This year at shorter-flat tracks, Yeley’s competed twice. At Gateway he finished 24th and then at Richmond this spring, Denny Hamlin wrecked him which led to his 36th. Last year in this ride at Richmond, Yeley had results of 32nd and 33rd. Heading into the weekend, Yeley currently has eight straight top 30 results which has to be a Rick Ware Racing driver record.
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman was a fantasy ace at Richmond back in his day but in the #51 in 2023, I think he has a high 20’s ceiling but it’s not going to get better than that. New Hampshire is a similar track and just a few weeks ago at that venue he finished 30th.
BJ McLeod – As usual, you know the drill. If you’re picking BJ McLeod, you’re picking the least competitive car on the track. At Richmond, McLeod has never finished better than 30th over his five starts. This spring, Anthony Alfredo drove the #78 and in McLeod’s place, he finished 33rd. Last year when McLeod raced at Richmond, he had results of 33rd and 34th for the season. New Hampshire is a similar track and just a few weeks ago at that venue he finished 31st.
