The Low Tier – Michigan
Austin Hill – At Michigan, Austin Hill will be driving the Beard Motorsports #62. This car will be RCR prepared, but will it be their good equipment? Last year at Michigan in the RCR #33, Hill finished 18th in a race with an usually high attrition rate. On Sunday, I think he’s likely poised to finish in the 20’s.
JJ Yeley – Remember JJ Yeley last year at Michigan? Yeley stayed out during the early competition caution, was slow during the restart and then a “Big One” ensued. Let’s hope he doesn’t do that again! This year at high-speed intermediate tracks, Yeley has a 23.8 average finish and at Kansas which I view to have the most correlation, he finished 23rd.
Cole Custer – Cole Custer is returning to competition at Michigan and will be driving the Rick Ware Racing #51. Custer has raced this car in three races so far in 2023 and his average finish sits at 30.6. I think it’s clear nothing good is going to happen in this ride. At Michigan, Custer has four starts under his belt, and he’s crashed 50% of the time. In his two non-DNF’s, Custer’s finishes in more competitive equipment are 23rd and 25th.
Josh Bilicki – This year at high-speed intermediate tracks, the #78 which Josh Bilicki will be piloting (BJ McLeod’s car) has been the slowest car on the track and ranks last in terms of Track Type Total Speed Rankings. On Sunday, Bilicki has a high-twenties ceiling.
