Asterisk Mark Report – Indianapolis Road Course (2022)
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell was one of the best last year at the Indianapolis Road Course but he finished an asterisk mark 12th. On lap 76 while running in 5th, Bell brought out a caution when he had a flat tire. In the race, Bell had the 3rd best average running position (7.4), earned the 2nd best driver rating, was tied for leading the 2nd most laps (17) and had the 6th best Total Speed Ranking.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney was one of the best last year at Indy RC, but like many others he was caught up in the “Late Mega Mayhem.” During the Overtime restart while running in 3rd, Blaney was spun which led to his 26th. In the race, Blaney had the 2nd best average running position (5th), was tied for leading the 2nd most laps (17), ranked as the 3rd fastest driver late in a run and had the 4th best Total Speed Ranking.
Chase Elliott – Last year at the Indianapolis Road Course, Chase Elliott had one of the best cars, but finished an asterisk mark 16th. The #9 car got better as the race progressed but during a late restart with 3 laps to go while running in 2nd, he was spun out.
