The Low Tier – Watkins Glen
Cole Custer – Cole Custer is returning to the Cup series at Watkins Glen to drive the Rick Ware Racing #51. In RWR equipment this year, Custer hasn’t fared well and currently has back-to-back 25th’s in his two most recent races. At Indy in SHR equipment, Custer was actually pretty good here. Custer finished 11th last year and then 18th in 2021. On Sunday, I would view Custer as about a mid-twenties driver at best.
Andy Lally – At Watkins Glen, Andy Lally will be driving the Rick Ware Racing #15. In 2023 at road courses in Rick Ware equipment his average finish is 30.3, and just last race at Indy he finished 30th. Back in 2011 at Watkins Glen in his most recent Cup start, Lally finished 21st.
Josh Bilicki – At Watkins Glen, Josh Bilicki will be piloting the #78 in place of BJ McLeod. This year at road courses in the #78, McLeod has competed in all four races and has a 27.75 average finish. Just last week at Indy, Bilicki finished 32nd. At Watkins Glen in 2021 in his most recent race in the #52 he finished 33rd. In his other starts his finishes are 32nd (2019) and 36th (2018).
