Kansas Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings

Ty Gibbs
Kansas Fantasy Spin – Don’t overlook Ty Gibbs at Kansas. Gibbs is 2 for 2 at finishing 34th but he was a top ten contender this spring, even after overcoming an early problem. At Michigan, the most recent similar track visited, Gibbs had a solid showing and finished 11th. On Sunday, I’m going to view Gibbs as a low double-digits driver who has a good chance to finish in the top ten.
Kansas Track History – At Kansas, Ty Gibbs has a pair of 34th’s on his resume, but you can quickly disregard both of those results. This spring, Gibbs was a top ten contender but had multiple problems. In the race, Gibbs finished 3rd in Stage #1 but then fairly late in Stage #2 while running in 8th, he had a slow pit stop (had to backup) that dropped him back to the 20’s. Gibbs rallied back up to 8th on lap 176, but then that very lap he crashed. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Gibbs ranked 6th. Last fall, Gibbs showed low 20’s potential, but had a short afternoon and finished 34th. On lap 90 while running in the low 20’s, Gibbs had a flat tire and got into the wall hard.

Alex Bowman
Kansas Fantasy Spin – At Kansas, look for Alex Bowman to be a risky top ten contender. Bowman missed the race this spring, but Kansas has historically been a great track for him. I view Las Vegas to be the single most similar track, and Bowman finished 3rd there this spring.
Kansas Track History – Alex Bowman has performed at a high-level at Kansas and he’s come close to victory lane in the past. In 8 of his last 9 Kansas races, Bowman’s finished in the top 11. Over his hot streak minus spring 2021 where he had alternator problems, Bowman has a 7.1 average finish. This spring, Alex Bowman missed the race due to injury. In 2022, Bowman swept the top ten and had a 6.5 average finish. Last fall in his most recent race, Bowman was one of the best. In the race, Bowman won Stage #2, led 107 laps, had the 5th best Total Speed Ranking and finished 4th. Last spring, Bowman had a solid showing. In the race he finished 9th, had a 9.8 average running position, had the 10th best Total Speed Ranking, the 10th best Green Flag Speed and ranked 11th for Speed Late In A Run. Last fall, Bowman finished 7th in Stage #1 & 2, had a 9.6 average running position and then finished 11th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of speed analytics, Bowman had the 9th best Green Flag Speed and the 10th best Total Speed Ranking.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Kansas Fantasy Spin – At Kansas, I think Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is a dark horse in terms of sneaking in a top ten, so don’t overlook him. Over the last three races here in the Next Gen, Stenhouse has been solid, and he was especially good last fall until he had a tire go down while running in 2nd. Kansas with the variable banking has just been a really good intermediate track for him and he’s been fast driving the high-groove. To play it safe, I would view Stenhouse as a mid-teens driver who has upside.
Kansas Track History – At Kansas, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has been pretty racy in recent races and over the last three, he’s been top 12 good. This spring, Stenhouse started 33rd but raced his way to a 12th. In the race, the #47 was at its best late and in the 4th segment, he ranked 12th in terms of speed. Additionally, Stenhouse ranked 14th for speed late in a run. In 2022, Stenhouse was pretty good in both races here. Last fall, Stenhouse was a standout but finished an asterisk mark 30th. In the race, Stenhouse started in the back, legitimately finished 4th in Stage #1 but then in Stage #2 on lap 110 while running in 2nd, Stenhouse had a tire go down and slammed into the wall hard. In spring 2022, Stenhouse started in the back, finished 8th, had a 13.3 average running position and his Total Speed Ranking was the 14th best. Over the segments, the #47 got better and his speed ranking over the four segments were 17th, 14th, 11th and 10th.
